    I have a tin top vanagon with the little folding table that comes out. Your conversion is the closest thing to that. The basic backseat that flips to a bed. I’m not sure why this can’t be produced commercially now, it must be something to do with safety.

    Thank you, Eric, from Jack in Florida. And one additional thought about costs: Your total conversion cost ($5,000) can be found by simply buying a car 2 or 3 years older. A new or 'newish' van isn't needed, just a well maintained van that has been a cared-for family member.

    Well done, Eric. I'll be looking for your sequel videos on your electrical system. One note: I'm surprised your entire DC electrical load is distributed THRU your MPPT Controller. I hope Renogy built in good protection for that. Also, I wonder what AC services you use beyond the computer and small device charging. No microwave in the van, correct?

    I love your channel, I subscribed right away and binge watching. Do you offer consults for a fee? I want to ask how you would modify to add a space for a cat and his litter box. We have an almost identical Toyota van. I was thinking to make a tunnel on the way in/out of the litter so he would leave the litter in the tunnel and not track inside the van. Maybe the tunnel is even constructed with charcoal filter pieces to contain smell, and a tiny computer fan could be used to vent the smell outside. I could imagine a tunnel along the top and side of the interior of the van or zig zag to lengthen the tunnel, so perhaps the box would be under the bed or somewhere near a door to have access to clean it just like you have access to water jugs from the outside… If you (or anyone) has other ideas I would love to know and if Eric you can give us a consultation to do stealth minivan with two adults and a cat, I would so appreciate it! Merci Beaucoup! We are from western Canada 🇨🇦 thanks for a great channel!

    Hello @Eric, I watched your video and could see that on the inverter you did the right decision: You chose one with a pure sinus output. Unfortunately you did not mention this fact. People who are new to this topic will often buy a cheap inverter without pure sinus, which can damage some devices.

    That's a great und cheap shower, thank you for showing. I like these modern high pop-up-tents. They're not much more expensive than your shower-cabinet, but they're build up very fast, and there's no need to take the shower directly beneeth your car, and you can use it for your toilett, too. And with the zipper-door there's no risk of opening by the wind. The only real downside is the package: One more peace of kit in the car with about 60cm (but relatively flat).

    • @ericenjoysearth2756
      @ericenjoysearth2756 17 днів тому

      Storage space is major for me. Especially for something used a few minutes per day. Those pop-up-tents also take times to dry. Very much faster to dry a curtain with a small towel, and the day it does not look to well, they cost less than 5$ at dollar stores. I will never use one of those pop-up.✌️

    I don't like public restrooms and I don't like to be dependent on them. And doing business outside with a showel is very weather-depending, and you have to (sometimes fast) find a spot where you will not afterwards find yourself on any social media showing you doing business - everyone has a camera on his phone today. So I'm a fan of pee-bottles (which I clean out with water as often as I can) combined with a "bucket"-toilett for the bigger business. In the "bucket"-toilett I put a garbage-bag with A) some saw dust or B) some cat litter. After use the garbage bag goes into a standard public garbage can - that's the same way you would handle baby diapers. Easy garbage bag disposal, no dealing with disgusting liquids or searching for special disposal points. If you can't find a public garbage can immediately or if you're remote for some days, that's also no problem in my experiance: If you manage to put no (or only minimal drops of) pee in the bucket-toilett, and if you put some more saw dust/cat litter over your "business", you can close the lid and don't have disturbing smell. The moment you open the lid for the next use: yes, that's the moment you smell something, but that's ok, your gonna make your area smell anyway a minute later (that's why you opened the lid). The only downside is the space it takes, yes, I see that argument. But @Eric did you ever test your "emergency-foldable-sink-toilett"? I imagine two problems with it: 1.) You can't sit on it, there's nothing that supports you. 2.) If you try to use it while squat over it: Depending on how you feel and what you've eaten: There's not only the "easy sausage", but maybe - especially in a quick emergency situation - more of a "spray" (sorry if that's too much pictures in your head now). I don't think that your foldable sink is a "save" way for doing business.

      Thank you for sharing your technics! The collapsible bucket is to squat, not for sitting. That’s the same way to go in the outdoors in a hole. ✌️

      @@ericenjoysearth2756 Thanks for your answer. Yes, I did understand that. The difference is: If you squat over a hole and then "spray" that's not such a big deal as having parts of that "spray" in your van. That's why I don't really like the idea. Ugly topic :-( but necessary ...

      @@ericenjoysearth2756 And another thought: squatting is not always possible -temporary health issues or accidents can come fast and unexcepted. I like sitting.

    Enjoying all the detailed contributions. I've been born and lived my entire 72 years in a 3rd world country. I want to add to the nice details, a common one that all dominicans would use if you don't have enough water and or pressure in the solar tank: a container of some 3-4 gallons and a jar. Always pleased with the chanel.

    I have seen a great number of van for living design, I’d say your design is the best for living in a van very day. The bed is easy to use and practical. And you are making good use of limited space.
